UFC 146 press conference - Cain Velasquez & Antonio Silva

Cain Velasquez on UFC 146 press

I've lost matches before and stuff like that and it's always a thing where you learn from it and watch film but you don't always think about it. You have to move on. I wasn't thinking I was going to go my whole career undefeated. He was better on that day and that's all it is.

The most important was having my body 100 percent and then going on to take a fight. If I needed the time to get that going, that was more important than going back into a fight right away. I think the way I did that now was perfect for me.

Bigfoot is a big guy, has a lot of power, and he's good everywhere. He's good on the ground, and on the feet.

Antonio Silva on UFC 146 press

Things are going really well. For the first time I'm 270 pounds three weeks before the fight. I feel very fast and light and I've been working with Mike Dolce.

I'm a part of Team Nogueira from Rio de Janeiro and American Top Team helped me by bringing in big wrestlers from Holland and it's made things easier here so I don't have to be away from my family during the camp.

It's a dream come true. It's a dream that any athlete in our sport wants to live out and everybody can be sure on the 26th of May that I will give out a great fight. I'm very relaxed and very well prepared. It's a great opportunity the UFC is giving me for my first fight in the UFC against one of the tops in the world.

I'm very comfortable. Cain Velasquez is a lighter and much faster fighter and I tried to come in a little bit lighter. I needed to increase my speed to counter his lightness.

UFC 146 fight card will be completely changed!

Following the removal of Alistair Overeem from the card, and moving former champion Frank Mir into his slot to face Junior Dos Santos, there was a vacancy to face Cain Velasquez on the same show.

Now it appears that former Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix fighter Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva has been tabbed as the replacement to step in and face Velasquez on May 26.

UFC President Dana White revealed the news via Twitter on Sunday.

“Don’t believe any of the BS you read on the internet,” wrote White. “Cain (Velasquez) is fighting Bigfoot Silva May 26th in Vegas.”

Silva was originally set to face former Ultimate Fighter winner Roy Nelson on the all heavyweight main card, but instead he’ll get the chance to face Velasquez in a pivotal fight in the UFC’s biggest division. White did not say who Roy Nelson will now face, but "Big Country" is expected to remain on the Memorial Day card.

Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva was a rumor for next Cain Velasquez opponent before Frank Mir. Read more on our news from January 8th, 2012: NEXT Cain Velasquez Vs. Antonio Silva?

Cain Velasquez about dos Santos Vs. Frank Mir

"I definitely think that's fair," Velasquez said. "He's off a three-fight winning streak, and dos Santos beat me fair and square. I'm definitely mad about mine, but I know with one more fight, I'll be in the same position. If that did come up, then yeah, I'd be fine with that."

Cain Velasquez AKA (American Kickboxing Academy) is in big problems!

After Cain Velasquez lost his first fight in his MMA career, Jon Fitch, Kyle Kingsbury, Trevor Prangley, Phil Baroni, Mark Ellis and few others also lost their fights.

Josh Koscheck is one of these "losers" too and the first big name who went away from AKA. The main reason is because he "lost a lot of respect" for AKA founder and lead trainer Javier Mendez.

Josh Koscheck explanation

"There’s one reason I’m leaving San Jose AKA and that’s because of Javier Mendez. He’s the only reason I’m leaving that gym ... I went online and I read this interview and I started to notice after all my teammates lost, it was the same thing. They didn’t listen to the game plan, that he deferred it away from himself, and he threw us under the bus basically saying that we didn’t listen to him and he tries to make himself look good, so it doesn’t reflect on him us losing. I’ve lost a lost of respect for Javier Mendez as a coach, as a person, because if you go back and listen to the history of the interviews of him after AKA guys have lost, the interviews he does, go back and look at the Cain Velasquez (fight), go back and look at the Josh Koscheck (fight), the other guys on that team, and see if you can find interviews where he refers to ‘Oh I did my job’ to make himself look good and they didn’t do theirs. That’s not a coach."

Remember what was Javier Mendez said after Cain Velasquez lost last year

Read underline text. Is Josh Koscheck right?

"Cain knows he blew it, that he stopped before the guy (Junior), but he's confident that he'll have the chance to fight for the championship again. Possibly in two or three fights from now. He first has to prove he deserves that chance, so he'll have to defeat his two next opponents, or at least one in a convincing way so that Zuffa says "ok, you deserve another shot". When Zuffa offer us that fight, we'll work on it. When we started training, the first thing I told him was not to trade punches with Junior. I told him not to stand before him because the guy's a great boxer, the best in activity. Once you do that, you're screwed. I did my job. The fight presented itself, Cain stood in front of him for a seconds and Junior landed a powerful right hand. Junior came prepared, Cain was prepared, but the win went to the one who imposed first his game, and that was Junior."
